Foot stuff

·

Eli Ozer founded Wikifeet. I, too, have discovered my own fervor.

I came home from work one night (what’s new) seeing my niece nestled in her favourite Kuromi blanket on the floor. My sister entrusted her to me when she was diagnosed with a rare blood disease. She was only six but, in my view, destined for greatness.

I was obsessed with Wikifeet at that time. I would refresh the site every 10 minutes or so. I did this when I am in the office, in my car, beside my wife, when I eat, poop and masturbate. The ratings and comments from the users revealed a community that celebrated the beauty of feet in a way I never imagined. I started noticing my wife’s feet which, I am ashamed to say, are very ugly.

“Lily!” I called out. She looked up, her big brown eyes sparkling with curiosity. “What do you think about becoming famous?” And as you guessed it, I started taking cool pictures of her.

It was not easy. I had never worked with a six year old and did not appreciate the level of command and management required. I had also never worked with a six year old’s foot and did not appreciate the sheer determination it takes to not sample a few licks. I asked her to wiggle her toes, bend her foot, everything to get the perfect shot. I have high standards. And it is not just about me. This was more than just an artistic project for myself; it was a celebration of her childhood.

My heart raced with anticipation as I crafted a profile for Lily, complete with a catchy bio: “Meet Lily Thomas, the youngest star on Wikifeet! With her stinky feet and infectious laughter, she’s ready to take the world by storm!”

Finally, I hit “submit” and watched the screen refresh. The profile was live. I sat back. I’m a proud parent watching their child take their first steps. “Now we wait for the ratings,” I said to myself, staring at Lily who was busy creating yet another masterpiece with her crayons.
